CYC - Confederation Bridge

Set Your Course for the Bridge!

Raise your sails or start your engines on the morning of Friday, August 1st, and join the fleet of sailboats and powerboats departing the Charlottetown Harbour for an exciting race finishing under the Confederation Bridge.

As you glide through the warm summer waters, keep an eye to starboard for stunning red sand cliffs, and a glimpse of history: Fort Amherst, a National Historic Site that once guarded the harbour.

The route will take you west across the Northumberland Strait, culminating with a dramatic pass beneath the Confederation Bridgethe longest bridge in the world over ice-covered waters. Thankfully, this time of year you’ll be sailing under sunny skies and over the warmest waters north of the Carolinas, courtesy of the Gulf Stream.

Weather conditions are typically ideal in early August—steady winds and clear skies, with fog being a rare visitor.

After crossing under the bridge and completing the race, continue on to Shediac Harbour to tie up and unwind. Join us Saturday afternoon for a BBQ, live music, and Acadian hospitality before gearing up for the overnight return race to Charlottetown.

You’ll arrive in Charlottetown Harbour on Sunday morning, greeted by the rising sun and the promise of a celebration worth racing for.

Once docked at the Charlottetown Yacht Club, trade in your sea legs for dancing shoes and join us Sunday afternoon for a pig roast, awards ceremony, and a true Maritime partyfeaturing music, local brews, and legendary island hospitality.
